WELCOME

t

to the South Carolina Workers' Compensation Educational Association's website. I would like to begin by saying that it is an honor to serve as your President. I am grateful to all of the individuals in this organization who continue to work, devote their time, and lend to the vision to make the SCWCEA the strong, successful association it is today.  The Board and staff hope your plans include participation in our many educational programs.

The nature of handling workers' compensation cases is changing for all of us. The nature of teaching and learning is evolving. Society itself is changing at an unprecedented rate.   It's hard to predict what effect these changes will have on our futures.

The SCWCEA will continue to educate workers' comp professionals for challenges we are experiencing and to prepare for those we don't know exist yet.  It is vital that we work together more effectively, share insights more broadly, and face our challenges more cohesively.  By doing this, we will be better able to serve our clients with relevant knowledge and treatments that improve their lives.

The South Carolina Workers’ Compensation Commission is a tremendous resource to this organization and we are grateful for all the time our Commissioners and Commission staff devote to us. We are appreciative that the Commissioners are willing to share their input, participate as board members, serve as committee members and panelists, and step up in numerous other ways to support our mission.

We hope you are able to join us for our upcoming programming throughout 2024. Our Medical Seminar will be held held February 18 & 19 at The Westin Poinsett in Greenville, SC, with a focus on alternative treatments in workers’ comp and is entitled Treating the Whole Person: Addressing the Elephant in the Room.  Our 2024 One Day Seminar will be held Friday, May 17th at the Cooperative Conference Center in Columbia.  Finally, our Annual Educational Conference on Workers' Compensation will be held at Embassy Suites at Kingston Resort in Myrtle Beach October 20-22, 2024. The program agenda, registration, and booths will be available this summer. The conference committee will provide a good mixture of topics to provide valuable information to all of our attendees. We encourage you to remain active with the SCWCEA and participate in our programs.  We cannot succeed without the ongoing support of our members.  Mark your calendars and plan to join us!

I look forward to working with our membership to continue the success of our organization and seeing you all at future programs.  Please reach out if I can ever help with anything.

Best Regards,
